An event which brought together the Catalan entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem highlighted the business opportunities offered by Boston’s ecosystem

The conference “The innovation bridge Catalonia-Massachusetts” was organized by Richi Social Entrepreneurs, Acció and Biocat

More than one hundred of entrepreneurs, companies, institutions and other agents of the Catalan innovation ecosystem took part on April 28 in an event organized by Richi Social Entrepreneurs, Acció and Biocat in which there were exposed the business opportunities that Boston offers to those Catalan companies who promote impact projects in leading sectors such as life sciences, IT, education or cleantech.

The meeting held at CaixaForum, in Barcelona, also served to review some of the latest trends within the "digital health" industry and to learn about the details of the “knowledge transfer” bridge which - driven by the regional Catalan government and having the key support of organizations like Richi Foundation- is consolidating between Catalonia and the capital of Massachusetts.

Among the speakers was Marc Goldberg, co-founder of Bioventures Investors, a US venture capital firm specialized in the field of biosciences and health which just raised a fund of 100M € and is particularly interested in investing in Catalan companies.

The attendants listened to the stories of a group of local founders who participated in a business mission to Boston last April. The trip was organized by Acció and Biocat and its purpose was to bring Catalan businesses and start-ups to Massachusetts to connect with its "digital health" ecosystem.

Ricardo Garcia, founder and president at Richi Foundation, presented the immersion program into Boston’s social entrepreneurship culture that will take place next July and will be organized by the Richi Social Entrepreneurs initiative, which will bring 25 international social entrepreneurs to the American city –an international social innovation hub.
